Malaysia has withdrawn a ban on a Catholic newspaper’s Malay-language edition imposed in a row over the use of the word “Allah”, an official said Thursday.The decision was made after the “Herald” weekly threatened to sue the government, the Home Ministry’s publications control unit secretary Che Din Yusof told AFP.”We received their letter. As many Muslm scholars in other parts of the world have pointed out, the word “Allah” is simply the Arabic word of the One and Only God who created the world, sent his prophets, including Abraham, Moses, Jesus and Muhammad (peace be on them all). That Divinity is called by various names, including God, Allah, Dieu, Theos, Gott, Eloha, etc.

By trying to make a false distinction between Allah (the God of Muslims) and God (the God of Christians), the Malay government violates the revelation of Allah/God himself who, in the Qur’an, says that Christians, Jews and Muslims all worship the same God of Abraham.
