Islamic ads on buses rile some

Officials in a Florida county say a Muslim group’s ads promoting Islam will remain on local buses until the contract ends.

Broward County Mayor Stacy Ritter said the county commission might change its policy on religious ads. But she said Broward would almost certainly be sued if the ads were removed prematurely, The Miami Herald reported.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations paid $60,000 for exterior advertising on 50 Broward County buses. The ads have the message “ISLAM: The Way of Life of Abraham, Moses, Jesus and Muhammad.”

Some Jewish groups have protested the ads, describing them as anti-Semitic and as provocative given the conflict in Gaza.   »»» UPI.com

Muslims believe that God has given to all mankind a single religion, which is submission to Him. The Arabic word for submission to God is “islam”. When the agent prefix “mu-” is added, the word becomes “muslim”, which literally means “one who submits to God’s will”. According to the Qur’an, Muslims are the true believers in EVERY age, both before and after the coming of Prophet Muhammad (peace be on him). The Qur’an says that God taught mankind the true religion of Islam in through His prophets and especially through the prophets to whom He revealed in successive ages the Scrolls (to Abraham, peace be to him), the Torah (to Moses, peace be him), the Gospel (to Jesus, peace be on him) and the Qur’an (to Muhammad, peace be on him).

People in every age and place who try sincerely to follow the message brought in one of the Holy Books and who follow the example of one or more of the messenger prophets are “Muslims”, submitters to the One True God.

The Qur’an says:

Those who believe (in the Qur’an), and those who follow the Jewish (scriptures), and the Christians and the Sabians, any who believe in God and the Last Day, and work righteousness, shall have their reward with their Lord; on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve. (2:62)
