Six Men Arrested in London as Suspected Terrorists Released Without Charge
The six men arrested Friday in London and suspected of “terrorist acts” related to the State visit of Pope Benedict XVI were released without any accusations being laid against them, Scotland Yard announced Sunday morning.
Commenting on the affair, the Vatican spokesperson, Frederico Lombardi, said, “We never attached much importance to these arrests. In his opinion the media coverage was “excessive”, especially the suggestion in some media that there was a “Muslim plot to kill the Pope” or that the suspects planned to “pulverize the Pope using bombs hidden in garbage cans”.
